About Natural She

Natural She is here because I believe every woman should have the opportunity to understand what's happening during her menstrual cycle, when she is fertile, when she is not and when her period is due and so much more.

Unfortunately, even for those of us who have had sex education at school, most of us have so much more to learn about our fertility and menstrual cycles and don't even realise it.

We leave school with the idea that every female of child bearing age should have a 28 day cycle, that period pain is a fact of life and if we're lucky, we may have been taught that 'vaginal discharge' in a large amount is unhealthy and could be a sign of infection.

The truth is that we are all unique and that, given the opportunity, we can learn about our own cycle and have more knowledge that relates to each of us as individuals than any doctor ever could.

We're often left with feelings of shame or embarrassment and self-confidence issues and hesitate to discuss what's happening to us. All because we misunderstand our own bodies and how they are supposed to function.

Discovering fertility awareness exists, is usually the result of side effects from more conventional forms of contraception/birth control becoming too undesirable. When we do decide we want a natural answer, then we might eventually stumble across alternatives through word of mouth, social media or an app store.

If this happens then we may not have any support to help us learn it correctly, accurate resources or we may have been given conflicting rules to follow from different methods. Sometimes special rules need to be used in certain circumstances, such as having recently stopped hormonal contraception, post partum and peri-menopausal stages.

Natural She is a way for me to spread this essential knowledge and hopefully see a positive change in the status quo and the scepticism which hinders fertility awareness education.
